Art for The Crafty…

Lino printmaking workshops in Clare

Did you know that Sea Pictures Gallery in Clare has been
running linocut printmaking workshops twice a year for 5
years?  This year a new course has been added,  “Drawing
for the Terrified” for those who say they can’t draw but
would love to. The secret is - everyone can! The course
tutor is Claudia Myatt, a professional illustrator who
works for the Royal Yachting Association and tutors on
SAGA cruises.

For “Drawing for the Terrified” you just need to bring yourself.
For the linocut workshops  you need to come with some
designs - photos, drawings, images that inspire you - because
the hardest part is working out what you want to do and if
you only have a one day course you can spend too much time
on that decision and leave yourself no time to do the print-
making!

On the November courses beginners often choose to do their
Christmas cards. The only restriction on your design is the size
of our press which means for beginners your designs should
be no bigger than A5. If you know how to cut lino then you
can go up to A4.

One day workshops for drawing take place on Saturday 13th
and Sunday 14th October.  There are 5 places per day and the
price of £95 per person includes all materials , refreshments
and a freshly cooked two-course lunch. The course runs from
10am-4pm.

Sea Pictures Gallery Linocut workshops are led by leading
Scottish printmaker, Linda Farquharson, and take place on
17th, 18th,  21st, 24th and 25th November. Classes are
limited to 4 students per day and run from 10am-5pm.
Again all materials, refreshments and a freshly cooked
two-course lunch are included in the fee of £115 for one
day or £220 for two days.
