Cambridge artist Naomi Davies has pro-
duced a lovely set of 6 watercolours of
the shops in Clare. She was commis-
sioned to produce these last year by the
shop ‘Blue Dog’ in Clare which now of-
fers the paintings as a set of 6 postcards.

Naomi lives with her physicist husband,
teenage daughter, and a little dog who
thinks he’s a big dog. Apart from a couple
of years in Milan, Italy, they have lived in
Cambridge for nearly thirty years. She
describes her her ‘real’ job as running a
detective agency. Well, family history
detection, anyway. She runs Helpful Ge-
nealogy from home, spending hours and
hours solving tricky family history mys-
teries, and researching complex family
trees. She describes it as like doing a
never-ending crossword puzzle.

Naomi started painting again as a way of
winding down when too involved with
her baffling mysteries. A chance to use
the left side of her brain for a change as
she describes it. She does quick bold
sketches, usually in ink, and then often
complete with watercolours. She enjoys
painting portraits, but especially loves to
draw when engaging in my other hob-
bies – drinking coffee, eating out, and
watching cycle racing.
